Last Updated: Tuesday, August 2nd, 2007

We are committed to protecting your privacy. The purpose of the Privacy Policy is to ensure that you understand exactly what information we collect, how we use that information, and the choices you have with regard to the collection and use of your personal information.

You should know:

What types of personal information do we collect and how do we use it?

As described in detail below, we collect and process personal information to operate an authentication service, improve security and provide customer support.

Account registration information. When you create an account with the V-Card Network, we will request some personal information, including your first and last name, your address and your email address.

V-Card Network account contents and usage. The contents of your V-Card Network account are stored and maintained on our servers in order to provide the service. Our computers process the information in your account for various purposes, including formatting and displaying the information to you, backing up your account, and other purposes relating to offering you the V-Card Network. Our employees and agents do not normally access the contents of any account, including any audio, video and text messages that you send, unless you specifically request them to do so (for example, if you are having technical difficulties accessing your account), if required by law, to maintain our system, or to protect Glance Studios or the public, or account setup. You do, however, agree that we may monitor, edit or disclose your personal information, including the content of your messages, if required to do so in order to comply with any valid legal process (such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order), or legitimate governmental request, to investigate a complaint or as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy and the Glance Terms of Service.

We also may collect information about the use of your account, such as how much storage you are using, how often you log in and other information related to your registration and use of the V-Card Network. We also track hits to your account in order to record the effectiveness of your messages. We do this purely as a service, to let you know when the recipient viewed your message.  Although we may publish aggregated information relating to the use of our services by all users, we will never sell, rent or share your personal information, including your V-Card Network history,  address or audio/video/text message content, with any third parties for marketing purposes without your expressed permission.

Cookies & log information

Cookies. Cookies. A cookie is a small data file that our server sends to your computer when you first visit the Video-PostCard.com / Glance-Studios.com website. As with most website cookies, our cookies include an identification number that is unique to the computer you are using. This identifier helps us better understand our user base and how they are using our site and services.

When you visit Video-PostCard.com and create login to your  account, we set and access cookies on your computer. We use cookies for a number of reasons, such as recognizing you when you visit the site, displaying the site according to your chosen user settings for language, and maintaining the security of your account. We may also use the cookies to collect aggregated information about the use of the V-Card Network to maintain, analyze and improve the service.

We do not use cookies to store information such as credit card numbers, telephone numbers or other sensitive information. A cookie is not an executable program and cannot do anything to harm your computer.

We believe our cookies improve the quality of our services. If you prefer, however, you can reset your browser so that it refuses all cookies, or notifies you when your computer receives a cookie. Although you may still be able to use some parts of the V-Card Network, other parts of the site may not be available if you refuse cookies.

Log information.  When you use your V-Card Network account, we collect certain information (the same information that most web sites collect when you log on to their websites). This information, contained in the "header" of your request to access the V-Card page, usually includes the browser type you used, your Internet Protocol address, and the date and time of day. In addition, we log the unique ID provided by our cookie.

We need this information to help us provide our services to you. For example, we need to validate your identity in order to maintain the security of your account. We also need to know what Internet Protocol address your query came from so we can send the appropriate pages back to you.

In addition, we log this information for internal business purposes. For example, this log information helps us determine how well our services are working so we can continually improve the quality of our V-Card Network. The log information is also important for security, audit, quality improvement, and other internal business purposes.

Communications Policy

We may send you information by email related to your V-Card Network account or other V-Card Network services that may best improve your experience with using the Network. You may receive the following emails:

  1. Administration and notification emails
  2. Customer care and any other emails about the V-Card Network for your benefit

We consider that the above emails are essential to the provision of the service.

Privacy in email ("V-CardMail")

In personal email communications, there has always been, and always should be, an expectation of privacy between the sender and the intended recipients of a message, enabling open communication with friends, colleagues, family, and others.

Privacy is compromised, however, if personal information or private email content is shared with parties other than the sender and intended recipients without their consent. We do not share or reveal V-CardMail content or personal information with third parties, except in the limited circumstances mentioned in this Privacy Policy. V-CardMail messages remain strictly between the sender and intended recipients, even when only one of the parties is a V-Card Network user.

Of course, the law and common sense dictate some exceptions. These exceptions include requests by users that our support staff access their audio, video or text messages in order to diagnose problems; when we are required by law to do so; and when we are compelled to access or disclose personal information because we reasonably believe it is necessary in order to protect the rights, property or safety of Glance  Studios, its users and the public. These exceptions are standard across the industry and are necessary for email providers to assist their users and to meet legal requirements.

When we may disclose your personal information

If you are responsible for referring someone to the V-Card Network, we may disclose your first name to the person you have referred the V-Card Network to. Beyond this, we do not disclose your personal identifying information, or the content of the V-Card Video messages, to third parties unless we believe we are required to do so by law or have a good faith belief that such access, preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, (b) enforce the V-Card Network Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues (including, without limitation, the filtering of spam), (d) respond to user support requests, or (e) protect the rights, property or safety of Glance Studios, its users and the public.

When joining the V-Card Network you may choose to refer friend and/or other business owners. The friend and/or other business owners you invite will be contacted and that contact will include your first and last name as the referrer.

V-CardMail
As a standard email protocol, when you send a V-Card Video from your V-Card Network account, the V-CardMail includes your business name in the header of the email.

V-Card Network
The V-Card Network enables users to publish messages to web pages including photos, videos, events and maps. So any message you publish using the V-Card Network may potentially be viewed by any person anywhere in the world and should not be considered private.

Transfer of information

Personal information collected by Glance Studios will be stored and processed in the USA.

We reserve the right to transfer your personal information, and messages stored on our servers, in the event of a transfer of ownership of the V-Card Network such as acquisition by or merger with another company. We will notify you before we transfer information and messages to a transferee only if such transferee has a materially different privacy policy.

Updating your information

You can change your V-Card Network account settings at any time, once you login to your V-Card Network account. You can add, remove and change your contact details. You can recall and delete any V-CardMail marketing campaigns that you have published at any time. Your message URL link will still appear at the place where it has been published, but our server will deactivate the URL link to the audio, video or text message the moment you delete the message.

How do we safeguard your information?

General

Our intent is to strictly protect the security of your personal information and carefully protect your data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure information we collect from you, including the use of encryption when collecting or transferring personal and / or sensitive information.

We focus significant time and resources to ensure that our employees and agents cannot misuse user accounts and personal information. However, we do authorize a limited number of employees and agents to access user accounts. We train our employees and agents about the importance of maintaining user privacy.  Our employees are also contractually required to access accounts and log data only for quality, security, legal, audit, and other internal business purposes. Under no circumstance will our employees and agents access your audio, video or text messages, whether you are the sender or the recipient, except in the limited circumstances specified in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

We implement technology and procedures to try to make sure that external parties cannot access or modify users' personal information on our servers. These technologies and procedures include industry standard methods, as well as, our own proprietary methods. Each V-CardMail message creates a unique URL that links to the message on our server. Any person that knows the URL code will have access to the message.

How do we notify you of changes to our Privacy Policy?

We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy. If we make any significant changes, we will notify you by posting a notice of such changes on your accounts page.

Data Retention

We may keep one or more backup copies of audio/video/text messages, so that we can recover messages and restore accounts in case of errors or system failure. Even if you have deleted your messages or your account is no longer active, messages may remain on our backup systems for some period of time. This is standard practice in the audio/video/email publishing industry. We will make reasonable efforts to remove deleted information from our systems, as quickly as, is practical.

Enforcement

If you believe for any reason that we have not adhered to our Privacy Policy, please contact us and we will act promptly to investigate, correct as appropriate, and advise you of the correction. Please identify the issue as a Privacy Policy concern in your communication to us.
